What is Athletic Therapy?
Athletic Therapy is used to treat sports injuries, post-operative cases, arthritis, concussions, postural imbalances, overuse joint and muscular problems.
The primary focus of Athletic Therapy is on the musculoskeletal systems, with a slight dive into the neurological system and emphasis on emergency management, athletic taping, and management of injuries.
What Does the Athletic Therapist Do?
Athletic therapists use a variety of treatments, including:
- Manual therapy
- Acupuncture
- Bracing and taping
- Exercise prescription
- Sports massage
- Joint mobilizations
- Trigger point therapy
- Neuromuscular integration
What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is the study of human movement and explores how exercise, ergonomics, and body mechanics. It is used to determine where there are imbalances and stress held in the body and energetic system.
Kinesiology therapy uses muscle monitoring (a gentle push/touch on your arm) in combination with acupressure points (without needles) and body palpation to determine where there are imbalances and stress that are held in the body and energetic system.
What does a Kinesiologist do?
Kinesiology provides active rehabilitation of injuries, help with the prevention and management of lifestyle diseases and provide coaching to take your athletic performance.
Kinesiology treatments are always one on one and usually 30-60 minutes in length.
